According to a media report, Citroen is developing a mid-size SUV to take on the Hyundai Creta in India.
The mid-size SUV will be Citroen’s third model in India after the C5 Aircross and a sub-4 metre SUV. While the sub-4 metre SUV is expected to be based on the C3, the mid-size SUV likely to be a heavily localized version of the C4 Cactus.
The C4 Cactus features similar styling to the C5 Aircross. It has a split headlamp up front and a dual-tone bumper with trapezoidal fog lamp pods. The car has black cladding around the wheel arches and along the doors. It gets wraparound tail lights, a chunky bumper and a roof spoiler at the rear. On the inside, the C4 Cactus gets a 3-spoke steering wheel, a floating instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system.
Citroen’s mid-size SUV could be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. These are likely to be the same powertrains that will be offered on the sub-4 metre SUV, but in a higher state of tune.
