The Rumion is expected to use the same 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.
In 2021, Toyota launched a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga called the ‘Rumion’ in South Africa. As per the latest reports, the carmaker could now be planning to introduce it in the Indian market.
Reports suggest that Toyota could launch the Rumion in India by September this year. Toyota has already filed a trademark for the name, which suggests that the MPV could be called Rumion in India as well.
The Rumion will be mechanically identical to the Ertiga. It will be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 103 BHP and 138 Nm. The engine is likely to be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
While the Rumion will share the same bodyshell as the Ertiga, Toyota is likely to make minor cosmetic changes to help differentiate it from Maruti’s version. We can expect a new design grille and bumpers as well as different alloy wheels.
