According to a media report, Maruti Suzuki might offer its new 1.5-litre diesel engine on the S-Cross.
Maruti’s new in-house 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine is set to replace the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre unit. The new engine is rumoured to be lighter than the 1.3-litre engine and could come with a dual mass flywheel. It could produce 94 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 225 Nm of torque @ 1,500-2,500 rpm.
The report suggests that the new engine is likely to debut on the Ciaz later this month, following which it is expected to be launched on the Ertiga. The third model to get the 1.5-litre diesel engine could be the S-Cross.
The Maruti S-Cross is currently offered with the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with mild hybrid technology. It produces 89 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 1,750 rpm and is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
