The upcoming Tata Altroz hatchback is likely to be offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine at launch, while a petrol engine option might be introduced later.
The Altroz is expected to be powered by the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that powers the Nexon. In the Nexon, it makes 108 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 260 Nm of torque @ 1,500-2,750 rpm. In the Atroz, it is expected to be detuned to 92 BHP and 201 Nm.
The Tata Altroz is based on a new scalable platform called ALFA. The car’s styling will be based on Tata’s Impact Design 2.0 philosophy. It is expected to compete with the Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20 in the Indian market.
