Take a seat, cause Seat’s going big on performance. The Cupra brand will see seven new models as the company plans to build a more comprehensive lineup, according to a new report.
It comes from the brand’s Director of Business Development, Strategy, Brand, and Operations, Antonio Labate. He revealed the plans in an interview at an event for the Cupra Ateca, reports Periodismo del Motor.
“We will launch seven new models until 2021,” he said. That includes special versions of the Cupra Ateca and other models and special versions with special finishes and equipment limited to 1,000 units.
The performance brand, split off from Seat as a stand-alone earlier this year has already revealed the Ateca crossover. It gets a 2.0L TSI four that produces 296 hp and 295 lb-ft. With a seven-speed dual-clutch box, the speedy Spaniard manages 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.
The next one is said to be a version of the Leon compact hatch, boosting. Expect more models from the Seat lineup to get the performance arm’s warm embrace, but not all of them. We don’t know all of the planned cars, but there are rumors circulating that it will get a performance crossover that’s exclusive to Cupra and not mirrored by a conventional Seat version.
