Silverstone is a well established favourite on the SS calendar, and last Sunday proved exactly why
Heavy rain and bitterly cold temperatures weren’t enough to dissuade hundreds of PHers from getting out of bed early on Sunday morning to make their way to Silverstone. Good thing too, as it turned out, with the skies brightening and the sunshine making an appearance long before most people made their way home.
With multiple track sessions running throughout the morning and into the early afternoon, the intrigue extended beyond the paddock. From an Escort Cosworth drifting around Copse to a Huracan Performante shattering the decibel limit down the pit straight there was a great deal to be entertained by. A PistonHeads track session is nothing if not diverse, and all in all a good time seemed to be had by all.
Away from the action there was still plenty to enjoy, the car park and paddock filled to the brim with the usual array of magnificent machines; a Spectre style Land Rover Defender, beautiful green E39 M5 and a Spec C Impreza among the many that caught our eye. Even those not prepared to take their own car on track had an opportunity to get out, though, with our charity partners at Mission Motorsport offering passenger laps in exchange for a small donation. A total of £1057.76 was collected on the day, bringing the total raised by PH this year to nearly £7,500.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along, especially those who donated to Mission Motorsport. As always the staff at Silverstone, the marshalls and the parking attendants have our gratitude for making themselves available on yet another Sunday morning, too. Our next Sunday Service will be announced shortly, so keep an eye out for more news on that soon.
In the meantime there is a full set of very nice pictures available here, anyone who didn’t get the chance to donate to Mission Motorsport can do so here, and PHers are already discussing the Silverstone Sunday Service here. See you next time!
