Skoda Octavia vRS prices confirmed

Hybrid, diesel and 4WD on the way; for now its 245hp petrol and DSG, with orders open this month

Ever since the first Octavia vRS was launched almost 20 years ago, fast Skodas have been renowned for good value, bringing most of the performance of a contemporary GTI to buyers at a lower cost, often with improved practicality. Unsurprisingly that has proved a popular offering across three generations of vRS Octavia, and Skoda will be hoping for more of the same from the latest.

With orders being taken from the end of the month, prices have now been announced for the Octavia vRS IV, the range starting at £31,495 for the 245hp petrol hatch with DSG gearbox. As an estate, the car costs £32,695, meaning both vRS models undercut what will likely be its closest rival, the Focus ST. The Ford costs from £34,710 as a hatch with the optional seven-speed automatic, or £36,110 for the wagon. Naturally, the Skoda is also less than the Golf with which it shares a great deal; a DSG Golf GTI retailing at £34,960. As for the additional Octavia vRS models already announced – the hybrid, diesel and all-wheel drive derivatives – pricing is set to follow soon.

Both of the vRS models available at launch will come with 19-inch wheels, 'Columbus' sat-nav with 10-inch display, Matrix LED headlights, heated front seats and adaptive cruise control. Notable hardware inclusions are the 15mm lower suspension and VAQ electronically controlled LSD. With orders open from October 27th, delivers of the fourth Octavia vRS are anticipated before the end of 2020. As for the Focus ST twin test, expect to follow on not long after. With the wagons, of course.
