According to a media report, the Supreme Court of India has asked the government to issue holograms or stickers indicating the fuel type being used by a vehicle. Petrol, diesel, CNG, electric vehicles (EV) and hybrids will have stickers of various colours.
The apex court has also directed the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to issue advertisements to inform people about the new rule and the method to obtain these stickers. Reports also suggest that the date of registration of the vehicle will also be printed on these stickers.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had proposed orange holograms for diesel vehicles and light blue holograms for petrol and CNG vehicles.
