According to a media report, the Tata Group is looking for partners for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and has approached BMW and Geely.
The discussions are said to be in an early stage and Tata could approach other potential partners. However, neither of the three companies have confirmed these reports.
The report suggests that last month, N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons had said that the company was open to partner with other brands for JLR, but ruled out the possibility of an outright sale.
Tata is said to be seeking partners for JLR to save on costs and share the burden of investing in electric vehicles. Despite being a large market, JLR has had its fair share of struggles in the Chinese market, which led to a US$ 3.9 billion writedown earlier this year.
