Chevrolet refreshed its strong-selling Traverse 3-row crossover for 2021. Powertrains are the same but the Traverse gets a bunch of updates inside, as well as a more angular, tougher look on the outside. It will go on sale later this year.
Curbside, the 2021 Chevy Traverse gets a new grille in front with a restyled fascias front and rear. There are four new wheel choices, new LED headlights and taillights, and the turn signal indicators are now integrated into the daytime running lights.
Inside there are new options including a dual-panel power sunroof with a rear power sunshade, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-inch driver information center behind the steering wheel, wireless charging and USB ports in all three rows. Chevy also notes that the Traverse now has best-in-class cargo space over its competitors from Toyota, Ford, GMC, Subaru and Volkswagen, though the company fails to say exactly how much.
On the safety side, adaptive cruise control is now available on 2021 Traverse 3LT, RS and Premier trims. A new safety alert seat is standard on Premier and High Country trims.
A 310-hp V6 remains the only powertrain option, delivering 266 lb-ft of torque through a nine-speed automatic transmission. That’s good for highway mileage of 27 mpg in front-drive Traverse models and 25 mpg for AWD vehicles.
We don’t know pricing yet, but the current base Traverse starts at $30,995 and the most expensive High Country trim stickers for just over $50K. We’ll assume the 2021 model will stay close to that. We’ll find out more later this year.
