Triumph Scrambler 400X could be launched by mid-October

The Scrambler 400X shares its underpinnings with the Speed 400, which is already on sale in India.

The Triumph Scrambler 400X was unveiled alongside the Speed 400 in June this year. Now, the bikemaker is gearing up to introduce it in the Indian market. The bike could be launched in the second week of this month.

The Scrambler 400X shares its underpinnings with the Speed 400, which is already on sale in India. It has a similar design but with a slightly rugged look. It comes equipped with an analogue instrument console with a small LCD screen, a USB charging port, ride-by-wire and dual-channel ABS.

The bike has a 2-piece seat set at 835 mm compared to 790 mm on the Speed 400, longer suspension travel, wide handlebars with knuckle guards and a 19-inch front wheel shod with dual-purpose tyres.

The Scrambler 400X also has a slightly longer wheelbase compared to the roadster and weighs 9 kg more than the 170 kg Speed 400. The bike also gets a larger 320 mm brake disc at the front.

The Scrambler 400X is powered by a 398cc liquid-cooled engine that makes 39.5 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a torque-assist clutch.
