Volvo has released sales figures for FY 2018-19. The figures indicate a growth of around 25% compared to the previous fiscal year.
The Swedish carmaker sold 2,687 cars in FY 2018-19 compared to 2,157 vehicles the previous year. According to the company, growth was driven by the launch of the XC40. Volvo also opened five new showrooms in Calicut, Raipur, Kolkata, Indore and South Mumbai.
Volvo offers nine models in India. These include the S60 and S90 sedans, V40, V90 and S60 Cross Country, V40 hatchback and the XC40, XC60 and XC90. The carmaker is expected to start local assembly of hybrid vehicles in India. The XC90 Plug-in Hybrid could be the first local-built hybrid model.
