Genius Garage in Bowling Green, Ohio, normally caters to college students with designs on careers in the automotive or aerospace industries. One young student is breaking that mold. Gene Lin, Genius Garage’s youngest student at 13, last weekend showed off a six-wheel go-kart he designed and built replicating Tyrrell F1’s famous P34 six-wheel Formula 1 car from the 1976-1977 seasons. Lin first visited the Genius Garage more than a year ago with his father and brother to check out the race cars on campus. Lin discovered that he had a talent for drawing cars after an offer from the school's founder, Casey Putsch, to try out the school's drafting boards. Lin was ultimately given the OK to bring to life his first hands-on engineering project — a nitrous-oxide-enhanced Tyrell P34 six-wheel-inspired racing go-kart. Check out the video to learn more about Lin's creation.
