Romain Grosjean has been hit with a three-place grid penalty for blocking Lando Norris during the first part of qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix Saturday.
Haas driver Grosjean was lapping slowly in preparation for his first qualifying lap when Norris, on a lap that would have sent him to the top of the timesheets at that point, came across the Frenchman heading into the final corner.
Norris’s lap was slowed, and the McLaren rookie was forced to use a second set of tires to ensure his passage into Q2.
Both drivers were able to progress and qualified inside the top ten but, at a post qualifying hearing with the race stewards, Grosjean was demoted from eighth to eleventh with a three-place penalty.
