Lance Stroll believes issues with tyre warm-up during qualifying for the French GP was to blame for his twelfth-consecutive Q1 elimination.
SportPesa Racing Point have struggled this weekend, admitting that the Circuit Paul Ricard doesn’t play to the RP19’s strengths, but Stroll was understandably disappointed after finishing faster only than the Williams pair.
Asked by reporters what was to blame for his struggles, Stroll said: “Definitely something to do with tyre warm-up and the car.
“I felt like I stringed it together pretty well today with everything I had under me, so I’m quite surprised to see the outcome being as bad as it was.
“I expected us to be down at the bottom just because that is where we have been all weekend, 16, 17, 18, so unfortunately we didn’t get everything out of it in terms of performance.
“My team-mate [Sergio Perez] seemed to find a lot more performance, so I will have to look into why that is.”
The races have been a strength for the Canadian racer throughout 2019, so he was understandably upbeat when asked if he can continue that trend.
“Yes definitely, sights set on tomorrow and we will see what we can do from there,” he said.
