Lewis Hamilton has said Ferrari’s early pace in testing is “to be expected” and does not hold “any worry” about the timesheet.
Sebastian Vettel topped the charts on the first day of testing and new team-mate Charles Leclerc followed up with his own table-topping performance on Tuesday.
Vettel, in the SF90 again on Wednesday, was back mixing it at the top of the leaderboard once more, while Mercedes remain uninterested in setting any early headlines.
Hamilton conceded that Ferrari do look in good shape, but he has been around the block more than enough times to know that a good pre-season can still ultimately amount to nothing.
“They [Ferrari] have been looking great,” Hamilton said at a packed press conference in Barcelona.
“The Ferraris always look strong, particularly in the last few years they look very strong right at the beginning so it’s to be expected.
“At the moment I don’t really hold any worry about anything.
“I just try to focus on our job. I don’t know what everyone’s doing, there’s different fuel loads. I’ve been in this business a long time so I know how it goes over the first week and into the second.
“It’s not a time where we need to be focusing on others.
“We let everyone else do their thing and really try to focus on digging deep, making sure our processes are better than ever before, analysing the data better than ever before.”
Hamilton was speaking to the press shortly before hopping back into the W10 for the afternoon session on day three of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya.
