Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto believes that Ferrari’s recent improvement bodes well for how the team will do in 2021.
It has been a largely terrible season for the Italian team, with the 2020 car not capable of fighting at the front of the field. Therefore, the Scuedia currently occupies a lowly P6 in the Constructors’ Championship.
However, there are signs of improvement, with the Turkish Grand Prix seeing the outfit pick up 27 points as Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc crossed the line in P3 and P4.
With stable regulations for next season, such performances give Binotto hope for the next campaign.
“It’s obviously very important for Ferrari doing well at the moment,” he told Autosport.
“We know that we have improved the car and, if you look at the last races, we improved our position in the race. I think the car has become more consistent and the car has become a bit faster.
“So it’s great, at least, to have those results, because I think it’s great for next year. It’s great looking ahead as well to the next races. I think that as well in terms of constructor positions, it’s not the end of the championship, so it’s encouraging.
“The people are working hard back at home trying to understand the weaknesses of the car and trying to address them. And especially, as we are preparing for next season, those results somehow are encouraging ourselves.”

Ferrari’s third podium of the season at Istanbul Park came courtesy of Vettel, who finished a race in the top three for the first time in over a year.
Speaking after the race, Binotto stated how pleased he was for his driver.
“I’m very pleased for Sebastian,” he said, quoted by Motorsport.com. “I think a podium for him is very important. It has been a difficult season for him.
“I think he has started being, at least now at the end of the season, [more] comfortable with the car. He is delivering better.
“He had a very good start, very consistent, with good pace. He was managing the tyres, managing to keep the positions, and holding the positions. And overall, even on the last lap, he did well because he took the opportunity. And it’s great for him.
“He just finished third, very close to Perez. But great, I’m happy for him. Still three races, and hopefully we will do as well in the next one.”
