According to Autosport, Schumacher is going to get a chance to drive the SF90 on the Tuesday after the Bahrain Grand Prix, the first day of the test.
The reported plan is then for Mick to gather some more mileage and experience with Alfa Romeo and their C39 car on the Wednesday.
It looks like it will be a busy week ahead for the Ferrari academy driver, who also kick-starts his first campaign in F2 this weekend, driving for Prema.
Ferrari are yet to fully confirm their driver plans for the test, but Schumacher looks all set to test out modern Formula 1 machinery for the first time.
Alfa Romeo boss, Frederic Vasseur, revealed back in February that talks were taking place between themselves and Ferrari over the prospect of giving Schumacher a first opportunity with a rookie test.
Mick Schumacher himself has recently spoken about the “honour” he has in carrying the Schumacher name as he tries to follow in the footsteps of his father – a seven-time World Champion.
