The second Kaulig Racing NASCAR Xfinity Series entry just got a major boost with the addition of AJ Allmendinger.
The 37-year-old will drive the No. 10 Chevrolet Camaro for multiple races this season, and although the exact schedule hasn’t been revealed, it would stand to reason that it would include the three road course races at Road America, Mid-Ohio and Watkins Glen.
"I am excited for the opportunity to hop back into a Xfinity Series car, " said Allmendinger. "I look forward to helping Kaulig Racing build their program, as well as, fight for wins with them."
Allmendinger has recorded one win and 11 top-five finishes in the NASCAR Cup Series, his victory coming at The Glen in 2014. He also has two road course victories in the Xfinity Series with Team Penske at Road America and Watkins Glen.
He also boasts a successful career in the International Motorsports Association (IMSA), winning the coveted Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in 2012.
"I am looking forward to seeing what AJ can do in the No. 10 Kaulig Racing Chevy," said Kaulig Racing President Chris Rice. "He is another talented driver that we have tapped to wheel our All-Star car and I can’t wait to see it compete for wins."
The No. 10 will also be driven by Ross Chastain, Elliott Sadler and Austin Dillon this season.
Allmendinger was not re-signed by JTG-Daugherty Racing in the Cup Series once his contract ran out last season, and was ultimately replaced by rookie Ryan Preece. He responded by signing a multi-year contract with the NBC Sports Group as a motorsports analyst for both the network’s IMSA and NASCAR coverage.
