Kimi Raikkonen was dissapointed with his qualifying performance for the Australian GP, believing there was more pace in the car.
The Alfa Romeo looked quick throughout free practice, so the Finn could have been forgiven for thinking P9 was a good achievement for the race tomorrow.
However, Raikkonen spoke of how he was unable to pull off one good lap, despite the performance he could feel from the C38.
“I’m not really happy no. I think there was more in the car but I just couldn’t put one decent lap together,” he told reporters in Melbourne.
“So, on that side of things I’m not happy but it’s what we got.
“I think we could have gained two more places if we had put a decent lap together, but that seemed a bit tricky to do today.”
The 39-year-old does remain confident though that he can finish in the top 10 tomorrow and push further up the field from there.
“Yes [I can get a top 10 finish] our pace was good today and yesterday,” he explained.
“In qualifying the feel of the car was getting better and better, but from my side I just couldn’t find that lap.
“But, I’m looking forward to tomorrow and seeing what we can do.”
