The 2020 Rolex 24-Hour at Daytona International Speedway is about to go down, so why not check out this simulated lap behind the wheel of a Ferrari race car to get familiar with the track?
Base 51, a Los Angeles-based simulator facility, put together this video that takes us through Daytona’s road course layout using a Ferrari 488 GT3 car. IMSA driver and Base.51 coach Jeff Westphal talks his way through each turn, giving tips and tricks that the drivers will use to extract the most time out of their cars come race time.
If you’re planning on watching Daytona this year, this simulator drive-along is a good precursor to get familiar with the track, and of the tiny nuances that come with it.
In other simulator-related news, Road & Track is hosting its first ever Ultimate Sim Circuit Competition at Base51 on March 25. Hosted by Matt Farah, you’ll be able to race against the clock and against other readers for a chance to be crowned champion. Full details can be found here, and you can purchase tickets here.
