Tatiana Calderon retained as Alfa Romeo test driver/ambassador

Colombian driver Tatiana Calderon will continue with the Alfa Romeo team as their test driver and ambassador for 2020.

It will be her fourth season with the team having first signed with them back in 2017 as a development driver.

Speaking to the Sauber Group website she said: “I’m extremely happy to continue as a Test Driver and become Team Ambassador for Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN in 2020.

“Continuity is so important in our sport, we have been together four years and it has been a great journey which has provided me with some great opportunities to grow and learn.

“I’m very thankful to the team for their continued belief and support to my career. We are all ready to give our best this year.”

Team principal Frederic Vasseur added: “I am delighted Tatiana will stay with our team for 2020, taking over the role of Team Ambassador as well.

“Over the last three seasons, she has become a part of the family and her contribution to the team is increasingly valuable. She has been faultless every time she stepped in the cockpit and we are looking forward to working with her again.”

Calderon is set to appear in the 2020 Super Formula Championship as part of the Drago Corse with ThreeBond team.

Her F1 contributions to Alfa Romeo could prove very important for the team with Vasseur targeting consistent gains throughout 2020 with the C39.

“The C39 is the product of the hard work and vision of a large group of highly committed individuals and it’s testament to the quality of everyone in our team,” he is quoted by GPFans.

“We hope it will help us move the team forward and achieve our objectives.

“Our target hasn’t changed: we want to do a better job tomorrow than we did today.

“We are a growing team and still have to improve in every single area and every single department of the company. This is an open-ended project, there is no finish line – everyone has to be fully focused and dedicated.

“We are moving forward, we already did a huge step compared to where we were at the beginning of 2018 but we have to continue on this path.”
