Toyota announced today it will begin taking orders for its GR Supra GT4 factory race car, first revealed as a concept back in March. As part of the news, Toyota has revealed a bunch of specs for the car, including power numbers, suspension components, and weight.
Toyota says it was able to extract 430 horsepower from BMW’s B58 3.0-liter straight-six. Like the road-going Supra, it uses a single twin-scroll turbocharger to make boost, though aside from an Akrapovič exhaust, it’s unclear what upgrades the company made to produce such a substantial bump over the stock 335-horsepower figure. A Toyota spokesperson told Road & Track specific details will be revealed in early 2020.
Sending thrust to the rear wheels is a seven-speed “sports automatic” transmission and a mechanical limited-slip differential. Toyota doesn’t specify whether this is a modified version of the street car’s eight-speed ZF-sourced gearbox, or a different unit all together. We’ve reached out for clarification, and will update this article if we hear back.
Similar to the street car, the GR Supra GT4 will used MacPherson front suspension and a multilink rear setup, supplemented with adjustable KW racing dampers all around. There are Brembo six-piston brake calipers up front, and four-pistons in the rear. Rounding out the interior is a roll cage, an FIA-certified bucket seat, six-point harnesses, and a carbon fiber instrument panel.
Toyota says the GR Supra GT4 will go on sale in Europe in March, then North America in August, then Asia in October. Pricing is expected to start at €175,000 (around $194,000) before taxes, customs fees, logistics fees, and other expenses.
