Ferrari Portofino Gets Tasteful Upgrade From Novitec

Because 592 prancing horses weren’t enough, the tuner added an extra 83 hp.

Modifying a Ferrari without messing around too much with its beautiful lines is always tricky since some tuners have the tendency to overdo it, but there are some exceptions. Case in point, Novitec has unveiled its discreet take on the Ferrari Portofino, the California successor also tweaked by the German tuner several years ago.

The new body kit serves a dual purpose as aside from enhancing the convertible’s already gorgeous design, it also helps increase the sleekness of the shape by boosting the aerodynamic efficiency. The new parts were developed in the wind tunnel to ensure maximum benefits, starting with a front spoiler featuring air deflector inserts. Even the dual air intakes in the hood have their own inserts, much like the side air vents located in the front fenders.

Also at the sides, the mirror caps come in pure carbon fiber and there are custom rocker panels to better guide the airflow. Novitec is offering an assortment of alloy wheel designs available 21- and 22-inch sizes and wrapped in Pirelli tires. The new shoes can be optionally complemented by a set of sport springs bringing the Portofino closer to the road by approximately 35 millimeters (1.37 inches). Owners of the Italian two-door Prancing Horse won’t have to worry about damaging the front underside of their prized possession thanks to a lift system that jacks up the front of the vehicle by as much as 40 mm (1.57 inches).

The back of the Portofino has been modified to accommodate a new fascia attachment made from carbon fiber. Rounding off the changes on the outside is a subtle spoiler lip to complement the other carbon bits installed.

No tuning program would be complete without a power upgrade, hence why Novitec decided to massage the twin-turbo 3.9-liter engine. In stock form, the V8 develops an already healthy 591 horsepower and 560 pound-feet (760 Newton-meters) of torque, but the tuner can extract 83 hp and 123 lb-ft (91 Nm). That brings the grand total to 674 hp and 683 lb-ft (851 Nm), which is good enough for a run to 62 mph (100 kph) 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph (325 kph).
