Boon Siew Honda teases Vario scooter – smaller capacity engine version coming soon to Malaysia? – paultan.org

Boon Siew Honda (BSH) has released a teaser post on their Facebook page, with a partly concealed iamge of what appears to be the rear end of a Honda Vario scooter. The company says this will be making an appearance at the upcoming round of the Petronas Malaysian Cub Prix due to take place at Dataran Sri Jempol in Jempol, Negeri Sembilan this weekend.

Design cues visible in this rear view of the scooter suggest it will a Vario, though the Vario 160 has been launched for the Malaysian market in November last year and the Vario 150 is no longer on sale and is longer listed on the Boon Siew Honda website’s roster of scooter models.

This currently consists of the Forza, ADV160, Vario 160 and the BeAT, the latter being the entry pointn to the Honda scooter range in Malaysia at RM5.8k with a 109.5 cc engine.

Could this hint at a smaller displacement version of the Vario to join the brand’s line-up? In neighbouring markets such as Thailand and Indonesia, the Vario 125 is sold alongside the Vario 160, and caters to those looking for an even more affordable alternative, one with a price difference equivalent to around RM2k.

Currently, the Honda Vario 160 packs afour-valve, liquid-cooled single-cylinder displacing 157 cc, producing 15.3 hp at 8,500 rpm and 13.8 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, and transmission is courtesy of a continuously variable transmission and belt drive.
