Vehicles Affected: Approximately 104,000 model-year 2018 Mercedes-Benz C300 sedans, coupes and cabriolets; C350e plug-in hybrids; Mercedes-AMG C43 coupes and cabriolets; Mercedes-AMG C63 coupes and cabriolets; C63 S sedans, coupes and cabriolets; model-year 2018-19 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 and GLC300 coupe SUVs; Mercedes-Benz GLC350e hybrid SUVs; Mercedes-AMG GLC63, GLC63 coupe and GLC63 S SUVs; and Mercedes-AMG GLC43 and GLC43 coupe SUVs, all equipped with Audio 20 head units and automatic child-seat recognition
The Problem: The status of the passenger-side airbag may not display correctly. If the passenger airbag is incorrectly displayed as on when it is not, front-seat passengers may be unaware that the airbag won't deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
The Fix: Dealers will update the audio head unit software for free.
What Owners Should Do: Mercedes-Benz will begin notifying owners Jan. 2. Owners can call the automaker at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
