2001-2011 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, CLK, CLS, E-Class: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 744,900 model-year 2001-07 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, model-year 2003-09 CLK-Class, model-year 2006-11 CLS-Class and model-year 2003-09 E-Class cars

The Problem: The bonding between the glass panel and the sliding roof frame may deteriorate, possibly resulting in the glass panel detaching from the car and becoming a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect the glass panel bonding and replace the sliding roof, as necessary, for free.

What Owners Should Do: Mercedes-Benz will begin notifying owners Feb. 14. Owners can call the automaker at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
