2018 Honda Odyssey facelift launched in Malaysia – now with Honda Sensing; priced at RM254,800

Honda Malaysia’s first model launch of 2018 is the facelifted Honda Odyssey, which is offered in a sole 2.4L EXV variant priced at RM254,800 OTR without insurance. The refreshed MPV was first introduced in its native Japan back in October last year, bringing with it a few revisions to its styling and feature set.

The nip and tuck job at the front includes thicker bar “wings” to accompany the Honda logo, although the shape of the LED projector headlights remain the same as before. Below that, there are now four horizontal slats instead of three, resulting in a smaller lower intake.

There’s also a new bumper here, one with smaller faux side intakes than before in light of the additional slat. The circular fog lamps have been replaced with a set of LEDs as well, and they are connected via a thin strip that splits the slats from the lower intake.

As for the rear, the piece of trim that was previously placed between the taillights has been omitted. The ‘Odyssey’ badge, which was previously on said trim, now takes position in the lower left of the bumper instead.

Moving inside, updates include new trim for various surfaces and there’s also a geometric print for the upholstery. Beyond that, the MPV continues to offer seating for up to seven people (2-2-3 format), with those in the second row being able to slide and recline individual captain chairs. Should you need to maximise cargo space, both the second and third row seats can be folded as well.

Under the bonnet, the familiar 2.4 litre DOHC i-VTEC engine continues to be of service, with the NA four-pot serving up 173 hp (175 PS) at 6,200 rpm and 225 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Drive is sent towards the front wheels via a CVT automatic.

Equipment-wise, the Odyssey comes with 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels (215/55 profile tyres), front (2) and rear (4) parking sensors, front dual-zone climate control, rear single-zone climate control, seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, powered front seats (eight-way driver and four-way passenger) reverse camera and power-sliding rear doors.

The safety kit includes six airbags (dual front, side and curtain), blind spot monitoring system, rear cross traffic alert, Smart Parking Assist, hill start assist, stability control, ABS, EBD and brake assist.

A big boost is here is the addition of the Honda Sensing, with the Odyssey being the next vehicle to gain the safety and driver assist suite of systems after the CR-V and Accord. The suite includes Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM). Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

Buyers will get to choose from three exterior colours – Platinum White Pearl, Premium Twinkle Black Pearl and Super Premium Metallic – with the first two being new additions. Each purchase comes with five-year/unlimited mileage warranty as well as a free labour service package (applicable up to six times within five years or 100,000 km).

Honda Malaysia has set a sales target of 130 units per year for the new Odyssey, which continues to arrive as a fully-imported (CBU) model. The model is now open for booking at all 93 Honda dealers nationwide. For detailed specifications of the new Odyssey, head on over to CarBase.my
