Following the introduction of the facelifted Hyundai Elantra AD in August, the Avante Sport variant has been launched in the brand’s homeland of Korea. The high-performance sedan adopts the new look that comes with the refresh, albeit with its share of sporty cues.
Up front, the angular face features a different grille mesh design that is painted black and comes with silver trim between the LED headlamps. There are also subtle side skirts here, along with larger disc brakes fitted behind 18-inch alloy wheels, and a chromed exhaust finisher.
On the inside, you’ll find carbon-fibre look interior trim, sport bucket seats upholstered in a choice of black or red leather, a flat-bottomed perforated steering wheel and unique door sill plates.
Motivation continues to come from a Gamma 1.6 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which serves up 204 PS and 265 Nm of torque. The T-GDi mill is mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with drive going to the front wheels as before.
In Malaysia, the Elantra Sport is currently being offered in pre-facelift form (AD generation), priced at RM124,088 on-the-road without insurance. Do you prefer the Elantra Sport’s new look or are you a fan of the less angular styling approach? Let us know in the comments below.
