Sports cars have come a long way since their inception, and we must admit that they are only getting better. On this episode of Head 2 Head, hosts Jethro Bovingdon and Jonny Lieberman bring together two iconic sports cars and pit them against each other in three epic challenges.

One of the most anticipated new cars ever was unveiled this year and to say it conjured mixed emotions to car enthusiasts is an understatement. The fifth-generation Toyota Supra is a BMW-built sports car ready to take on any challenge. On this occasion, the guys get a 2020 Toyota GZ Supra Launch Edition. On the other hand, a legendary American ponycar stands ready to give the new Supra a run for its money. The 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is put to the test to discover if it is better than the previous GT350 and if it can prove its supremacy over its smaller competitor.

The endeavor begins in Tennessee at one of the world’s most exciting roads, the Tail of the Dragon. This road exposes the weaknesses any car has in their handling performance. With two distinct cars that have a considerable power and weigh difference, it’s interesting to find out which one performs better. Next, Bovingdon and Lieberman head to Kentucky for a drag race showdown at Beech Bend in Bowling Green. Upon arrival, Lieberman quickly chooses the less powerful 335-horsepower Supra thinking it will be the easy winner due to its automatic transmission, lighter weight, and turbo boost. Bovingdon accepts the Shelby GT350 and claims it takes technique and finesse to manage the Shelby. The guys make a couple of passes in hopes of finding a clear winner only to find themselves confounded at the end of the day. They have a car taking the win almost every run but without the quickest run of the day. To complete their road trip, they meet up with pro driver Randy Pobst at NCM Motorsports Park to find out which car outperforms the other on a racetrack. With its many corners and technical aspects, the 526hp Mustang Shelby GT350 is not completely in an advantage, because as we all know, power is not the only thing required in this kind of race.
Both cars put up a great fight, but which one comes out on top?
