2020 BMW X3, X4: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 370 model-year 2020 BMW X3 sDrive30i, xDrive30i and M40i, and X4 xDrive30i and M40i SUVs

The Problem: The front-axle swivel bearings may not have been properly heat-treated during manufacturing, reducing their strength and possibly causing them to break, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the front-axle swivel bearings for free. BMW said it has instructed owners not to drive their vehicles.

What Owners Should Do: BMW has already notified owners. Owners can call the automaker at 800-525-7417, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
