Exterior

The 500X Sport gets different front-end styling that includes a more prominent lower grille opening and larger foglight surrounds. There are also Sport badges on the front fenders, and gray door handles and mirror caps.

The more noticeable change, however, is the switch from gray to body-color trim on the wheel arches and the lower portion of the doors and bumpers. The resulting monochromatic styling theme is furthered by the SUV’s newly available Rovente Red paint color. Sport models are also offered in white, black, Moda Grey and Italia Blue. A black roof is available.

The Sport model comes with 18-inch aluminum wheels, and 19-inch aluminum wheels are available.

Interior

Changes to the five-seat cabin include a dark headliner and roof pillars, revised finishes on the doors and center console, sport seats finished in fabric and vinyl, a leather-and-Alcantara steering wheel with shift paddles, an Alcantara-finished instrument panel hood, aluminum pedal covers and Sport floormats.

As with other trim levels of the 500X, the Sport comes with a 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. Available features include navigation, a BeatsAudio premium stereo and dual-zone automatic air conditioning.

Under the Hood

The 500X Sport is powered by the same 177-horsepower, turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine that goes in other trim levels of the SUV. The engine was new for 2019, and it teams with a nine-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard.

EPA-estimated gas mileage is 24/30/26 mpg city/highway/combined, and the all-wheel-drive system is designed to automatically disengage the rear axle when not needed to save fuel.

Safety

Available active safety features include blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
