C27 Nissan Serena S-Hybrid bookings reach 5,500 units as of Nov 1 – ETCM to speed up production rate

Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has revealed that, as of November 1, 2018, a total of 5,500 bookings for the C27 Serena S-Hybrid have been made. Of that, about 4,000 units of the MPV have been delivered, which equals to 73% of the bookings amassed.

To recap, the fifth-generation Serena MPV is powered by a carryover MR20DD 2.0 litre direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine, making 150 PS at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm at 4,400 rpm. It’s fitted with a new dual-arm tensioner to reduce tension on the arm belt and improve fuel efficiency, and is mated to an Xtronic CVT.

The seven-seater people carrier also features a 2.6 PS/48 Nm ECO electric motor that replaces the starter motor, and Nissan claims it is good for 14.2 kilometres per litre on the European NEDC cycle.

Some noteworthy features include Zero Gravity seats for the first and second row, seven USB ports scattered around the car, hands-free opening function for both rear passenger doors, a split-open tailgate, as well as conveniences like keyless-entry with push-start, LED headlights and a 6.75-inch touchscreen unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

Company sales and marketing director said: “Our assembly plant (TCMA) has been focusing on increasing its production whilst ensuring the highest level of product quality, and continuously speeding the deliveries. We are extremely thankful to our valued customers for their continuous support, understanding and patience.”
