Chevy Photo Gallery from the 2018 NHRA World Finals

We here at Chevy High Performance have been following quite a few events from the 2018 NHRA drag racing season in order to gather up the coolest Chevy photo galleries on chevyhiperformance.com for the drag racing fans, and as the saying goes, “what comes around, goes around,” which is especially true when it comes to NHRA drag racing, as the season ends at the same venue as it starts: Auto Club Raceway at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. With the venue’s first event taking place in 1953, the joint is overflowing with drag racing history. By 1961, the NHRA hosted its first national event on the West Coast: the Winternationals. Multiple records have been set and broken at the famed quarter-mile with drag racing legends such as Jack Chrisman, Don Garlits, Shirley Muldowney, Don Prudhomme, Bill Jenkins, Ronnie Sox, Bob Glidden, Don Nicholson, and countless others all taking home Wallys from the Winternationals.

It was in 1984 when the Fairplex’s dragstrip became host to the last race of the season: The NHRA World Finals. At this event, many NHRA season class championships have been determined. Some class championships are finalized prior to the event due to a large points lead, while other exciting seasons have come down to the final round of the event, which makes the 24-event NHRA drag racing season so exciting.

History was once again made at the legendary dragstrip at the 2018 NHRA World Finals on the weekend of November 8-11, 2018, when 19-year-old Tanner Gray captured the Pro Stock championship in his Chevy Camaro to become the youngest champion in NHRA Drag Racing history. To top off his exciting weekend, he also won the event by taking out Drew Skillman in the final round.

With the 2018 NHRA Drag Racing season a wrap, we’ve put together a large on-track photo gallery featuring the coolest wheels-up Stock and Super Stock Chevys, Camaro Pro Stocks, and fire-breathing Funny Cars, and we’ll also take you behind the ropes of John Force Racing for some up-close and personal photography you’ll only see at chevyhiperformance.com.
