Hertz Is Selling Its 750-HP Camaro ZL1s While Reportedly Trying to Avoid Bankruptcy

We discovered on Monday rental company Hertz—reportedly on the brink of bankruptcy—recently listed most of its bespoke Corvette Z06s for sale. Being able to get 650 horsepower for so cheap is nice, but if you’re looking for something even more powerful with a black and yellow livery, Hertz is also selling a couple of its custom-built 750-horsepower Camaro ZL1 rentals.

Hertz commissioned 24 of these ZL1s for its nationwide rental fleet back in September 2019, along with a handful of similarly-specced Camaro SSs. Customized by NASCAR team Hendrick Motorsports, they sport a larger Callaway supercharger, Hertz-specific wheels, illuminated door sill plates, fender badges, and embroidered headrests with Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron’s signature. There’s also a numbered plaque. Obviously, all 24 were optioned with the 10-speed automatic transmission.

Hertz’s used car website currently has two of the 24 ZL1s listed on its used car website, both located in Charlotte, North Carolina with $78,000 asking prices. The one shown above has 3379 miles, while the other has just 1817 miles on the clock. That price is a bit more than your average used ZL1, but when you factor in the upgrades and rarity, it starts to make sense.

If you’d rather not drop a massive amount of cash to get behind the wheel of a Hertz ZL1, the company still has a few in service at some of its locations. But considering how quickly all of those Z06s hit the market, you’ll likely have to reserve your spot quickly.
