Honda Jazz Mugen, BR-V Special Edition launched in Malaysia – limited to 300 units each, from RM88,600

Honda Malaysia has launched two special edition models in the country – the Jazz Mugen and BR-V Special Edition – with each being limited to just 300 units.

The Jazz Mugen is largely identical to the show car the company put on display at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS), and is based on the Grade V variant with a number of add-ons.

The first is a Mugen body kit that includes a new front aero bumper, which features LED fog lamps and three-hole cutouts for DRLs (but with only two utilised each side) on the lower sides.

You’ll also get a Mugen logo on the front grille, side skirts, rear bumper extension, tailgate spoiler and a rear mid-mounted spoiler extension. However, unlike the KLIMS concept, the Jazz Mugen doesn’t get the 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels and makes do with the 16-inch set that comes with the Grade V variant.

Also, the Passion Red Pearl finish seen on the concept is not available, and you’ll have to choose from two colour options – Modern Steel Metallic and White Orchid Pearl. The former will set you back RM88,600 (on-the-road without insurance), while the latter is priced at RM88,720. For reference, the top-spec Grade V goes for RM83,633.

The rest of the Jazz Mugen’s specifications is as per the variant it is based on, with a 1.5 four-cylinder making 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque driving the front wheels through a CVT. Standard equipment includes a 6.8-inch touchscreen head unit, leather upholstery, six airbags and touch-panel auto air-conditioning.

Moving on, we arrive at the BR-V Special Edition priced at RM90,700, which offers more goodies compared to the Grade V variant of the seven-seater. Once again, it is mechanical identical to other BR-V variants, employing a 1.5 litre engine (120 PS and 145 Nm) and CVT.

Aesthetic enhancements with the BR-V SE include running boards on the sides of the vehicle, side step garnishes and a tailgate spoiler. You can also order the BR-V SE in Passion Red Pearl or for an extra RM300, White Orchid Pearl. The former replaces Dark Ruby Red Pearl in the model’s colour palette, and was first seen on the facelifted HR-V.

Another item you get with the BR-V SE is a 6.8-inch head unit in place of the Grade V’s 6.1-inch system. The interface appears to differ from the unit that you’ll find in the current Jazz and City sold here, despite the same screen size.

Much like the Jazz Mugen, the rest of the BR-V SE is similar to its equivalent Grade V variant, with 16-inch wheels, leather upholstery, automatic air-conditioning (with rear vents), dual front airbags, keyless entry and start, a reverse camera and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA).
