Jeep Adds Sunrider Flip Top For Wrangler Hardtop as Factory Option

Jeep is adding another choice to the Wrangler’s extensive roof options: the Sunrider Flip Top for Hardtop from Bestop—that’s a lot of “tops”—the company that’s served as the automaker’s exclusive soft top supplier for decades. In this case, it’s a quick-opening panel for hardtop Wranglers just over the front two seats.

The standard Wrangler hardtop normally has two removable hard panels—called Freedom Panels because AMERICA—in that location; the Sunrider Flip Top replaces them with a single, weathertight swath of soft fabric that can be unlatched and tossed backward in seconds. (Bestop markets the unit as simply Sunrider for Hardtop, but Jeep appears to have added Flip Top to the name for clarity among its many roof offerings.)

Bestop offers the Flip Top for $750 or $850 for both the Wrangler and the Gladiator (the panel should be interchangeable across the models) depending on material; the cheaper option is “Black Diamond,” a more plasticky fabric, while the pricier version uses black twill. Jeep will offer only the latter and limits factory ordering to the Wrangler, at a price of $895. It seems the cost of convenience in this instance is $45.
