Lego Now Has a Ducati Panigale V4 R Set With a Functional Transmission

Lego’s been going a bit crazy with its automotive Technic kits. From Porsche to Bugatti to Dom’s Charger, there have been crazy-detailed versions of all kinds of four-wheeled hero cars. But the two-wheeled roster has been significantly lighter, with the unbranded “Street Motorcyle” set holding down that market. Now, though, Lego has launched its partnership with Ducati.

The Lego Technic Ducati Panigale V4 R is the first set of that deal, featuring a 646-piece version of the motorcycle giant’s iconic homologation special. The Panigale V4 R’s 234-hp V-4 engine is approximated in plastic. And while the suspension for the Lego set may not be authentic Öhlins running gear, it does actually work. So does the gearbox, though the simple two-speed probably isn’t as suited to racing as the full-size V4 R’s 6-speed wet-clutch setup.

Based on the Lego release heralding the V4 R model as the “the first to be created after a licensing agreement was recently signed” by the two companies, expect more Lego Ducati kits to follow. If this is the one for you, though, it’ll go on sale this June for $59.99.
