The most reliable car brands in the UK according to reports from vehicle owners have been shared. WhatCar?’s Reliability survey looks at feedback from thousands of car owners to discover which models are experiencing the most or least faults. Reliability is one of the most crucial factors for drivers purchasing a new or used car. A car is still one of the biggest financial outlays you will have in your lifetime, behind purchasing a property.

Therefore, making an informed choice and biting something which is going to last and not spend half of its time stuck in garages or on the side of the road is key.

The research by WhatCar? is based on the feedback from over 18,000 car owners over the last 12 months.

It has now been able to decide the most and least reliable brands as a result of the feedback provided.

The data is based on ownership over the past 12 months and relates to cars which are between one and four years old.

A total of 15 groups of faults are looked at, which each vary in severity, to hopefully get a comprehensive view on which are are the most hardy and hardwearing.

These categories are aircon, battery, bodywork, brakes, engine, engine electrics, exhaust, fuel system, gearbox/clutch, interior trim, non-engine electrics, steering, suspension, wheels/tyres and other.

Each manufacturer is given a rating which is based on the number of problems suffer day each over, the cost of repair and how many days faults took to fix leaving the driver without the car.
