Renault Captur gets upgraded Euro 6 engine, new infotainment system, Captur+ Special Edition

The Renault Captur facelift, introduced here a year ago, has received an update. There are upgrades under the hood, in the equipment list and a special edition, too.

Renault’s 1.2 litre TCe 120 engine remains, but the turbocharged four-pot is now Euro 6 compliant for reduced emissions, and there’s also auto stop-start. Output is 120 PS and 205 Nm of torque from 2,000 rpm – that’s the same power but 15 Nm more torque than before. The claimed combined fuel consumption figure is 5.9 litres per 100 km (16.9 km/l) in the NEDC cycle. The gearbox is a six-speed Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) automatic.

Moving on, the seven-inch touchscreen head unit has been upgraded with offline and online navigation and internet connectivity. The infotainment system is able to support apps such as Joox and Waze (and more) when connected to the Internet.

TC Euro Cars is also introducing the Captur+ special edition with boosted kit. The Captur+ sports two-tone front and rear bumpers (silver “skid plates”), a first-in-class hands-free powered tailgate (swipe foot under the rear bumper, height can be programmed) and a driving video recorder a.k.a. dashcam.

The Captur+ is also equipped with maroon combination leather seats with matching door trim and armrest cover. The latter features stich detailing, offers additional storage space and is adjustable for greater comfort and convenience. Scuff plates with “Captur” logos and a boot sill guard round up the changes.

The rest of the standard equipment shared between the Captur and Captur+ include keyless entry and push start, walkaway auto locking, dual-tone body colour, LED fog lamps, auto headlamps/wipers, reverse camera and ECO mode. On the safety front, there are four airbags, ESC and ABS/EBD/BA.

The Captur, Europe’s best-selling B-segment SUV, also features a sliding rear bench that’s foldable 60:40. Boot space varies from 377 litres to a maximum of 1,235 litres, and the boot floor is variable. The front door bins can accommodate 1.5 litre drink bottles.

The updated Renault Captur is priced at RM107,980 on-the-road excluding insurance, while the Captur+ is yours for RM113,300. It comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, five years of free service (parts and labour), free 24-hour roadside assistance and service pick-up and delivery.

TC Euro Cars is also including a trip to Paris for two (flights and accommodation) as part of “The French Experience” sales campaign that ends on May 30.
