The fifth-generation Honda Odyssey is set to receive its first facelift, as these spyshots of a camouflaged test vehicle captured by our spy photographers clearly indicate. The people carrier first made its debut back in 2017, and differs from the one sold in markets outside North America like what we have here in Malaysia.
As with most mid-cycle refreshes, the Odyssey will receive an update to its styling, with particular emphasis on the front end. Underneath the camouflage seen here, expect a new bumper design as well as a restyled front grille and lighting elements.
The more exposed rear doesn’t appear to undergo a significant amount of changes, as the taillights appear to be retained, with just the lower apron receiving some tweaking. Everything else remains as is, including blacked-out corner pillars and downward-sloping character lines on the vehicle’s sides.
Under the bonnet, the 3.5 litre i-VTEC V6 engine will most likely be carried over and continue to provide 280 hp and 355 Nm of torque, with a 10-speed automatic being the sole transmission pairing. There are also whispers of a hybrid powertrain that will also come with the facelift, although there’s no evidence to suggest this to be the case.
Inside, expect some equipment changes – infotainment, trims and materials – to reflect those applied to more recent Honda models, with much of the dashboard layout being identical as before. We’ll only know more when the refreshed Odyssey makes its debut for the 2021 model year, which is rumoured to take place in summer 2020.
