SPYSHOTS: Jaguar E-Pace gets spotted in Malaysia

The new Range Rover Evoque isn’t the only vehicle that was sighted recently by paultan.org reader “alldisc,” as joining it is the Jaguar E-Pace. Another model previewed at the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) – this is during the inaugural event in 2018 – the British carmaker’s compact SUV and 2017 World Car of the Year was first wheeled out in July 2017.

The E-Pace has yet to make its official launch debut here, and was originally slated be formally introduced around Q1 or Q2 of 2019. At the time, we were told it would come with a 2.0 litre turbocharged engine with 249 PS and 365 Nm of torque, with other elements of the P250 AWD powertrain being a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.

During the preview, the E-Pace on display featured the base trim level and not the sportier R-Dynamic exterior package. Telling both apart is slightly tricky, but the R-Dynamic model features undivided inlets in the corners of the front bumper and a larger front grille, while the rear sees a body-coloured lower apron with a different “diffuser” design. Both trims sport dual exhaust outlets.

Based on the sole photo provided, it looks like we will be getting the base trim level, although it’s hard to be certain given the grainy shot and exterior finish of the vehicle in question. On the latter, sales staff had previously said there will be 10 options to choose from.

The E-Pace is positioned below the larger F-Pace, and measures 4,411 mm long, 1,984 mm wide, 1,649 mm tall and with a wheelbase spanning 2,681 mm. With styling inspired by the pre-facelift F-Type, the SUV competes against the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3.
