The Annual Daytona Turkey Run

Enthusiasts in Florida always have lots of events to choose from with multiple shows held every weekend. Mustang fans in particular enjoy tailor-made national and regional events while local Mustang clubs add even more choices. Although the legendary Daytona Turkey Run is not exactly Mustang-oriented, it is still a Blue Oval favorite with groups like the Daytona Mustang club turning out in force.

The Spring version of the show is now in its 30th year and enjoys a strong following. Held in late March, drivers were treated to chamber of commerce, mid-seventies weather throughout the three-day weekend. Multicolored classics of every description were on display in the infield of the Daytona International Speedway, a fact that meant stamina or a scooter was required to see them all. If you were a parts shopper, the hundreds of swap meet vendors meant you could finally locate that elusive part to complete that resto project in the garage. If it was time to update the family ride, the Car Corral easily qualified as Florida’s largest weekend custom car lot with hundreds of vehicles changing hands during the three-day show. For a genuinely unique treat, find a seat in the grandstand and watch the Dock Dogs, a Canine Aquatics Competition entertainment event that was fun for the whole family. Check out the amazing examples of automotive imagination on display at the Rat Rod Gathering, shop for a gift at Artisan Alley, then sample a craft beer at Hops and Hoods.

There’s one more reason why this event has become a fan favorite and that’s the opportunity for a Sunday parade lap around the Daytona International Speedway with photographers documenting your trip across the famous finish line.
