Toyota C-HR wins 2018 Thailand Car of the Year award

The Toyota C-HR has just bagged the 2018 Thailand Car of the Year award, after notching 382 points to separate itself from runner-up Mazda CX-5 (307 points) and Suzuki Swift (260 points). The SUV has been praised for its bold design, effective hybrid powertrain and a newly-developed platform benefiting handling and ride factors.

In Thailand, the C-HR is available with two powertrain choices, starting with the entry-level 1.8 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol and a 1.8 litre hybrid. The C-HR Hybrid is also the first recipient of the country’s new Board of Investment (BoI) privileges for hybrid cars.

The Thai COTY is now in its fourth year running, organised by the Thai Automotive Journalists Association. The judges comprised of automotive journalists with at least three years of car-testing experience.

In terms of eligibility, all participating cars have to be all-new for the Thai market and have been launched between October 1, 2017 and September 30, 2018. The previous winners were Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-3 and Ford Everest.
