Watch This Ford Crown Victoria Run an Eight-Second Quarter-Mile

Despite its success as a police interceptor, the Ford Crown Victoria is not known for particularly exciting performance. With over 4000 pounds to haul around and only 250 horsepower in its most powerful guise, the Crown Vic was never supposed to impress at the drag strip. That didn’t stop Cameron Powers from building one that runs 8s in the quarter mile.

Now, thanks to a Facebook video, you can see exactly what that feat looks like. In the run shown in the clip, you can see the Crown Vic ripping through the quarter mile in 8.911 seconds. For reference, a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport takes 9.7 seconds to complete the quarter mile.

By the time he crosses the finish line, Powers is going 153 mph. To accomplish this, the Crown Vic is using a 6.0-liter V-8 with a Borg Warner S485 turbocharger and a nitrous kit. We’re not sure how much power it’s making, but assume that it takes a lot to get the 4100-pound car down the drag strip that quickly.

It’s supposedly reliable, too. The post notes that Powers has been doing 9-second quarter-mile runs for some time now on the same car, slowly improving the car’s time and adding more power.

I’ve long been a fan of Panther-platform cars like the Crown Victoria and this, well, doesn’t help. Even though I’ve already owned a Lincoln Town Car that was terrible, seeing stuff like this gives me an irrational desire to own another one and modify it like a hooligan.
