Some things you know are going to be good just from the names involved. The Alfa Giulia SWB Zagato was guaranteed to be spectacular, for example. And same for this video: it documents Tuthill Porsche’s adventures at this year’s East African Safari Classic Rally. It’s 70 minutes long, filmed by Petroleum&Co, edited by Oak Lane, and features all manner of stunning 911 rally cars. This is undoubtedly going to be an hour and a bit very well spent over the festive period.

So much so, in fact, that we’ve not watched it all ourselves yet, exactly because it’s the kind of video best saved for some proper free time and a nice drink to go alongside. The first few minutes feel like a cinematic experience; best to treat the Tuthill video like one. Get it on the biggest screen you can, for starters, and the best speakers.

There’s nothing much to say about the nitty gritty, then, although the stunning pictures below should give you a good idea of what to expect. What we can say, though, is it was another successful Safari for Tuthill. Having been postponed from its original November 2021 running date, the Safari ran through February this year. Look away now if you don’t want any spoilers…

Sadly there wasn’t a victory in 2022, though there was a second-place finish, five Tuthill-prepared cars in the top 10 and another four in the first 20 finishers. A pretty good result then, especially considering the Kenya first-timers – and some who’d never even rallied before!

Richard Tuthill said of this year’s event: “The Safari rally is unique; it always has been it always will be. This year was no exception. The rescheduled date meant the climate was hotter and harsher than ever. Added to this we went North for the first time in a long time. The roads up there are extremely tough!

“Measuring success is of course subjective. But in my mind this year, more than any was a huge success. An amazing bunch of clients including many debuting not only in rallying terms but also in safari terms led to a team atmosphere which was very, very special. Second place and 6 cars in the top 10 was quite an achievement and only made possible with a team of crazily great people.  Can’t wait till the next one!” Enjoy the video – should be pretty special…
