Tesla Cybertruck Plaid Rumor: 800 HP And 1,000 LB-FT Torque

Though the exact power outputs of the new Cybertruck weren’t revealed, Tesla disclosed numbers at launch that are among the best of any pickup truck ever.

Let’s do a quick rundown of the top-spec Cybertruck. Max range is 500 miles. 0-60 miles per hour sprint is at 2.9 seconds. A quarter-mile run can be done in just 10.8 seconds.

According to a report by Motor Trend, the Cybertruck is ready for Tesla’s latest powertrain, the Plaid, which will be offered on both the Model S and Model X. The Plaid Model S has been testing quite a bit at the Nurburgring and, in fact, posted times faster than a Porsche Taycan.

The Cybertruck will reportedly benefit from the advantages of this powertrain. According to Motor Trend, the Plaid-powered Cybertruck will likely produce 800 horsepower (597 kiloWatts) and 1,000 pound-feet (1,356 Nm) of torque. Just like the Plaid-powered Model S and X, the future hyperized Cybertruck will have one motor on the front axle and two at the rear, motivating both rear wheels.

With that much power and torque on tap, the Cybertruck Plaid will be an absolute beast of a truck and it will surely be capable of some out-of-this-world things.
