1994: Hyundai Grandeur Is so Much More Than a Mitsubishi Debonair

Hyundai turned to Mitsubishi when the company needed some powertrain help for the Excel, but that wasn’t the extent of Hyundai-Mitsubishi cooperation during the 1980s. The original 1986-1992 Hyundai Grandeur was more or less a badge-engineered second-generation Mitsubishi Debonair; for the 1993 model year, the two companies worked together to develop the new generation of both cars. Here’s a South Korean-market television commercial for the 1994 Grandeur, emphasizing dignity, tradition and rich old guys who can afford to have a Grandeur chauffeur trail behind them as they stroll.
