2021 Acura MDX, TLX Leaked by RDX’s Infotainment System

Acura, what happened here? An eagle-eyed member of the AcuraZine forum community was digging around the software files for the RDX crossover‘s infotainment system and found unreleased images of the newly redesigned MDX and TLX.

The user found quite a few images. From these pics, we can see the new MDX sports a grille similar to the one on the compact RDX. While the headlights take on a familiar shape, the individual lighting units look pretty different. Air vents just below the lights add extra visual interest, and the side profile shows off the long hood.

The design changes on the TLX are even more noticeable, since the current model looks pretty sedate. The sedan receives the new headlight design, plus an angular grille, bold vents on the corners of the front fascia, strong character lines on the side, and redesigned taillights. Interior images of an unknown model have also surfaced, revealing ambient lighting.

After a design facelift for 2017 and an updated infotainment interface for 2018, Acura updated the MDX SUV once again for the 2019 model year with a sporty A-Spec variant. It’s likely getting a full re-do for 2021, which is when when we should see these big design changes. The new TLX is also expected for 2021, having received styling updates for the 2018 model year.

In a statement, an Acura representative told us, “These conceptual renderings were embedded deep in the RDX’s user interface software for placement only. While the renderings are conceptual and based on our Precision Concept design language, we are pleased with the anticipation and positive reaction, and are excited to share details of future Acura products at the appropriate time.”
