Check out the SSC Tuatara's 1,750 hp V8 on a dyno

You might not know much about SSC or its upcoming supercar, the Tuatara, but that doesn’t exactly matter. No, what matters is what’s powering the future supercar — a 1,750 hp V8 developed by Nelson Racing Engines. According to SSC, the engine is a ground-up design, which means it’s not one of Nelson Racing Engine’s off-the-shelf race engines.

Looking over the engine’s details, the 5.9-liter engine can rev to an 8,800 rpm redline. That noise will obviously be muffled slightly by the two turbochargers that help produce the 1,350 horsepower on 91 octane gasoline or 1,750 hp on E85. Following the trend of most modern engines, this engine also uses direct injection.
